Qualifications

- Knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations, particularly within the agriculture or food industry.
- Ability to communicate effectively in cross cultural situations
- Track record of strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting in a rapidly growing and evolving business environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights effectively to non-financial stakeholders.

Job Description

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a large dairy operation located in Indiana who are searching for Finance Director. The Finance Director will play a critical role in shaping the financial strategy and driving the growth of our dairy farm production business as we expand. This position will oversee the finance and accounting functions, providing strategic guidance and financial insights to support decision-making and ensure long-term financial sustainability. The Finance Director will play a key role in communicating financial reports and insights effectively to non-financial stakeholders and holds the financial lead role in analyzing and implementing initiatives that increase efficiency, profitability, and value. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of finance and dairy farm management, with a commitment to driving both profitability and efficient agricultural practices.


Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's growth objectives and expansion plans.
    • Lead the quarterly budgeting and forecasting processes, incorporating key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to measure and track progress.
    • Work alongside farm and operations managers to develop and implement operational and cost saving projects.
  2. Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Oversee the accounting offices in preparation and analysis of accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
    • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to all levels of management based on financial analysis and performance evaluation. Work closely with operations and other departments to provide feedback on actual vs. budget results to drive continual financial improvement.
    • Analyze operation data and expenses to look for trends to assist managers in implementing cost saving measures and to find operational efficiencies.
  3. Capital Management and Investment Analysis:
    • Advise Senior Management on the company's capital structure, including debt and equity financing, to optimize funding for growth initiatives and operational efficiency.
    • Conduct investment analysis and evaluate potential opportunities for expansion, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
  4. Risk Management and Compliance:
    • Implement and oversee risk management strategies to mitigate financial, operational, and regulatory risks.
    • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, accounting standards, and reporting requirements.
  5. Financial Operations and Controls:
    • Maintain and continually review financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial information and reporting.
    • Work with accounting office to oversee financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and treasury management.
  6. Stakeholder Relations:
    • Serve as a key liaison with internal departments, providing financial expertise and support to cross-functional teams.
    • Work with operations teams to develop and implement Human Resource processes, training and administration.
    • Build and maintain relationships with operations team and management team, external stakeholders, including investors, lenders, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
