QUALIFICATION:
- 2-15 years of experience around the background, feedlot, cattle confinement, or cow-calf will be considered. Strong animal health is a must.
- Operation is expanding from 500 to 1500 head over the next 6-9 months. Backgrounding operation utilizing open grazing of cover crops or modified buildings with curtain sidewalls.
- Need maintenance, building, and fencing skills to assist where ever needed. Additional skills of electrical and mechanical skills are all a plus for this diverse farming operation.
- All farming skills will be a plus, with a desire to assist on the farm side and work machinery maintenance during the off-season in a heated / air-conditioned shop is a plus.
- Additional heavy equipment from a track excavator or a scraper experience is a plus. The diversity of skills that one has can be an asset to our operation.
- Need to have good record-keeping skills and be a team player with a passion for production agriculture
- Must be able to work independently, trustworthy and responsible, of high character, self-motivated, and desire to always be learning.
- Semi-driving experience and a clean DMV record are a must; CDL is a plus
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Feedlot / Backgrounding Assistant for a southeast Nebraska family farm. The diverse operation consists of 6000+ acres of irrigated and dryland corn and soybeans, in addition to expanding our cattle backgrounding operation from 500 to 1500 head over the next 6-9 months. We are looking to utilize curtain-sided confinement but also open grazing of stalks, cover crops, etc., as available. An individual who may possess additional skills in electrical, mechanical, welding, construction, or even heavy equipment would be considered a plus. Additional skills, we will find a way to plug into our operation. We also do have fat hogs as part of our diversity, but buildings are contracted out to another producer and we are only responsible for building maintenance as needed. We are not looking for someone seeking employment but someone who wants to make a difference. The farm is located on good roads with opportunities for a spouse to find work within a 25-mile radius and near good schools. Currently, we do have a smaller two-bedroom house available, but we are willing to assist and negotiate if the larger house is needed. The employer wants to hire a solid, long-term employee with a passion for progressive agriculture. Wages/Salary is based on experience, stability, and references.
