Job Description:

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a small muti-site dairy, who is in search of a Dairy Manager to supervise the daily operations.

Expectations:
  • Willingness to develop new protocols and procedures for new dairy operations.
  • Willingness to do any and all tasks at the dairy if needed
  • Tentative Schedule - 6 on and 1 day off for 2 weeks, then 2 days off the 3rd
  • 10-hour workdays with the ability to be flexible on schedule at times
  • Rotating on call for weekend emergencies
  • Willing to cooperate with all employees in a professional manner

Duties:

  • Herd Management
  • Manage herd health of milking cows, dry cows, calves, and heifers.
  • Maintain and develop health, sanitation, and facility protocols
  • Maintain an up-to-date vaccination program
  • Monitor feed rations, intake, and work with nutritionists to ensure feed quality
  • Data entry – DeLaval herd software and Dairy Comp

Labor Management:

  • Work with owners and dairy/farm employees on a daily basis
  • Assist in developing team goals
  • Plan employee daily tasks
  • Monitor employee productivity and help train employees

Facility Management:

  • Plan employee daily tasks to help maintain facility
  • Work with equipment servicemen to repair equipment
  • Maintain appearance of facility and farm for public viewing
  • Assist and or lead farm tours

General Management:

  • Develop cattle marketing strategies and herd promotion
  • Be familiar with daily routines in all aspects of the operation
  • Be on call for emergencies
  • Assist in documentation of environmental regulations.
  • Fill in for owners on days off and vacations
