Job Description:


Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a large dairy located in South Dakota who is searching for an experienced, hands-on Dairy Manager to oversee the day to day operations.

The responsibilities for this position include:
  • Monitoring protocols across the dairy and use disciplinary action when necessary
  • Oversee and prepare the work schedule of all employees
  • Conducting weekly employee meetings for both the parlor team and the herd health team
  • Conduct a monthly review of all stats in all aspects of herd health and reproduction using Dairy Comp 305 and provide reports to the owner
  • Take monthly inventory of cattle numbers and feed
  • Monitoring and ordering herd health (vaccines and medicines) and parlor supplies
  • Oversee the functionality of all equipment in the barns including doors, fans, and curtains, and communicate with the mechanic on staff about repairs that need to be made promptly
  • Supervising the milking center including all the employees in this area which includes overseeing the training of new milkers, enforcing protocols, and monitoring the functionality of the parlor equipment both visually and with technology via apps
  • Review and prepare a parlor performance report weekly
  • Be prepared to assist the herd health team with daily tasks in emergency situations
  • Oversee the performance of the feeders
  • Responsible for hiring and firing of employees in the parlor center
  • Must consult with the owner about hiring and firing employees on the herd health team and feeding center
  • Weekly meeting with the owner to provide a progress report and discuss strategies and needs for upcoming projects or changes in protocols, etc.
