Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, delegate, and participate in all daily herd operations
- Ensure proper care and management of all animals
- Oversee the reproduction program, including pen checks, synchronization protocols (e.g., Ovsynch), breeding, mating decisions, and supply management
- Maintain and improve milk quality by managing milking routines, equipment performance, and milk quality records
- Collaborate with the Farm Manager to recruit, train, schedule, and supervise the dairy team
- Monitor and control operational expenses related to the dairy herd
- Record and track daily production and herd Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of the farmstead and all dairy barns
- Coordinate with the Outside Manager to ensure proper maintenance of equipment, buildings, driveways, and housing
- Communicate effectively with the feeding technician regarding ration changes, feed inventory, delivery, and intakes to maintain optimal feeding efficiency
- Provide leadership and oversight to address any operational issues during off-hours
- Perform additional duties as assigned
