Farm Manager
Candidate Description:
This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate has had a rather unorthodox career path that has led to his current Farm/Manager position, it’s the experiences along the way that have led to a very broad knowledge base in several agricultural fields that form a solid foundation that he continues to build upon each day. He spent 10 years working in Ag Extension, learning many advanced techniques in both agronomy and animal science, both teaching and practicing these advance methods have proven to be beneficial in his career. This job afforded him an opportunity to continue his education and gain valuable lessons such as managing diverse staffs, working with a broad spectrum of the public to solve problems at diverse farms, and managing budgets of both public and private entities. His former Farm Managing Partner position also afforded him many lessons, from partnership communication, startup funding, smart business growth, managing a salesforce, managing foreign labor, and managing multiple business together with varying partners. Currently, he manages 47 workers that farm 4,400 acres and manage another 12,000 acres of farmland, commercial properties and various other assignments as needed. He manages all crop input decisions based on input from department heads and crop consultants and using budgeting goals to meet overall financial targets. Provides analysis, design, and implementation of large land improvements (grading, irrigation, terra forming). Prepares and assists with the creation of capital outlay plans and other business-related analysis of existing and new agricultural opportunities. Monitors agricultural performance indicators on an ongoing basis, identify trends and make recommendations accordingly. Assists with special Company financial and business-related studies and works closely with other departments in preparing analyses. Prepares and presents professional reports and presentations to the Chairman and Board of Managers at the Annual Shareholder Meetings.
