Candidate Description:
This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate has demonstrated exceptional work ethic and a strong passion for agriculture from a young age. He began working full-time at age 15, completing high school online to accommodate his schedule. His first job was on a dairy with a 48-tie stall barn, where he was responsible for feeding and caring for calves and heifers, turning cows in and out, cleaning the barn, calving, and handling other routine chores. He was later promoted to a milker role, milking 48 cows using an overhead pipeline with three milkers.
While working at the dairy, he also gained feedlot experience, feeding cattle with a TMR mixer, spreading manure, building fences, and scraping yards—demonstrating versatility and a strong work ethic.
Seeking greater opportunities, he moved to a 20,000-acre grain operation (corn, soybeans, wheat) as a seasonal chisel plow operator. Within a few months, he was offered a full-time position due to his leadership, initiative, and eagerness to learn. He served as Shop Foreman during the winter, maintaining and preparing machinery for spring fieldwork. In the spring, he started with field finishing, moved into NH3 application, and eventually began spraying crops. He earned his custom applicator's license and sprayed with a 120-foot self-propelled sprayer through the summer.
Following spraying season, he resumed his role as Shop Foreman, preparing a large equipment fleet for fall—including 12 tractors, 4 combines, 6 corn heads, 4 grain heads, 4 grain carts, 5 chisel plows, 12 semis, and two grain elevators with capacities of 1,000,000 and 500,000 bushels.
During harvest, he operated combines for both soybeans and corn, using 45-foot heads and 12-/16-row corn heads. He ran both Case 8240 and Lexion 760TT machines. His planting experience includes using a 36-row corn planter and a 60-foot, 15" row John Deere air seeder for soybeans. He has also chisel plowed, rock picked, and operated skid steers and loaders.
In addition to his technical capabilities, this candidate offers strong leadership and mechanical skills, having supervised shop operations and overseen seasonal equipment readiness. He also brings bookkeeping experience, allowing him to contribute administratively. He is self-motivated, thrives on new challenges, and actively seeks to expand his knowledge and skillset in the agricultural industry.
