This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate grew up on the family potato, alfalfa and grain farm with 120-head dairy in pacific northwest. He is currently Senior Area Manager overseeing production operations of 25,000 row crop acres within a100 mile radius with 6,200 acres of potatoes, 821 sugar beets, 1,500 beans, 11,019 wheat, 4,800 corn, 660 alfalfa. Works with area managers to teach best farm practices as well as plan for equipment procurement and repair. He walks fields with managers weekly, scouts for disease and plans for irrigation and pesticide needs. Reads soil samples and petiole results from labs with managers, analyzes data and adjusts fertilizer needs accordingly. Creates spreadsheets and reports that track data, farm activity, area needs, seasonal progression and harvest. Presents spreadsheets, reports and findings at weekly executive meetings both in person and via Teams online. He works with finance to establish and track budgets for crops and purchases, goes over financials weekly. Creates farm progressions plans and rotation schedules, prepares seed and chemical inventories for upcoming seasons. He corresponds with processors and commodity buyers to plan harvest schedules and delivery. Collaborates with managers for the hiring of necessary full-time and seasonal employees.
