This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate is a third-generation agriculture executive with a proven track record of driving operational excellence and optimizing all aspects of production, distribution, quality control, sales, marketing, packaging, recruiting, and staff empowerment. Proven skills in agricultural operations as a leader, effective liaison, collaborative consensus-builder, and innovative problem-solver with a consistent ability to see the big picture, implement forward-thinking strategies, and drive complex, multifaceted projects to successful completion. He was General Manager for a one of the largest exporters of hay products, shipping $65M annually from the west coast of the United States to 12 countries in Asia and the Middle East developing and strengthening supply channels, storage, processing plants, and shipments. Oversaw all areas of plant production with a continuous improvement mindset; conducted inventory inspections with customers to educate and confirm final sales contracts. Acquired, designed, and staffed three facilities in CA; hired, trained, and managed a 30-member, full-time operation crew. Supervised 50-75 seasonal personnel and contractors. Managed existing relationships and cultivated new growers in six western states; verified inventory quality and quantity. Negotiated purchases, documented agreements, transported and stored $12M-$20M in annual hay inventories. Hosted international clients in California, Nevada, and Idaho. Interfaced with customers as well as end users in Japan, South Korea, and China to confirm shipment expectations and value. Managed U.S. and foreign compliance for export shipments. Led four direct reports (plant/office managers, trucking, buyer). Acted effectively as a liaison between president, VP sales, direct report managers, suppliers, and customers including foreign importers and international end users. Guaranteed quality control and packaging of each shipment. Evaluated production equipment and made recommendations to improve efficiencies with new technology. Previously managed a 10,000-acre California vineyard and provided complete crop care including vineyard establishment, irrigation development, harvest, budget management, finance, and reporting. Handled crop planning, soil health, irrigation, varietal selection, harvest, microclimates, and winery scheduling. Led crews including grape harvesters, support equipment, and wash crew. Coordinated with growers, wineries, and trucking to deliver grapes on schedule.
