This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate has 20 years of ranch experience and has worked his way up from Ranch Hand to his current position of Unit Manager/Cow Boss. For almost the last 10 years he has worked for his current employer. He started out on the cowboy crew and after 2 years was moved to the Cow Boss/Unit Manager. He oversees 1500-2200 mother cows as well as 200-800 replacement heifers. Along with the cattle he has 1-4 employees that he oversees to carry out the day-to-day workload that consists of feeding and fence construction in the winter, calving and branding in spring, rotational pasture grazing through the summer and fall right up to shipping calves. Through the summer he and his crew would fill in on irrigating and haying when needed. His experience includes A.I. Certification, fence maintenance and construction, flood irrigating hay and corn, running hay equipment, round bales, running a feed truck, doctoring feedlot illnesses, pasture doctoring cows and calves, calving and branding, setting up A.I. protocols for cows and heifers, heat detection in cows and heifers, replacement heifer production, welding and fabricating. He is seeking a long-term placement where He can use his knowledge and skills as well as gaining further knowledge and skills to help benefit an operation.
