This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate has more than a decade of property management and hospitality experience on a 100-year-old, 350-acre dude ranch in southwest Montana. The ranch has seen only two owners in the last century, and he has been a trusted employee of the family, charged with maintaining and keeping secure all aspects of their invaluable piece of Big Sky Country for the last 12 years. His varied background, including growing up on ranches in Texas and earning a ranch management certificate, welding certification and a degree in culinary arts, has given him a unique combination of work and life skills. Studying under a Certified Master Chef taught him the three core skills to building a strong foundation in hospitality: a strong work ethic, relentless eye for detail, and attention to the word “service” in the service industry. As property manager he maintained and repaired all aspects of the property, including 28 cabins, roads, land (pastures and forest), fencing, irrigation and plumbing. He can skillfully operate, maintain and repair heavy machinery and equipment including 4-wheel drive vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, skid steers, back hoes and John Deere tractors. As executive chef he planned and prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner for guests and crew daily from June to September. He also conceived, planned and implemented sleigh ride experiences with lunch and dinner options as a new winter business opportunity for the ranch he managed all aspects including grooming the sleigh trail and cooking meals.
