Assistant Manager / Dairy Manager
Candidate Description:
Adam graduated with a BS in Dairy Science from the University of Idaho in 2005. He started his career as a herdsman on a 2500-cow dairy farm in Southeast Idaho, where he was mainly responsible for treating the hospital and fresh cows. He also assisted with calving difficulties as needed. Adam then transitioned to a pasture-based dairy farm in Hawaii, where he managed a milking herd of about 500 cows, which eventually grew to nearly 1000 during his four and a half years there. In this role, he supervised the milk parlor team, feeder, calf feeders, and other animal team members, and also took on administrative duties, including maintaining DHI records, EZ feed, payroll, and recruiting. After that, Adam took a position at a dairy farm in Texas, where he led a team primarily consisting of recent Animal Science graduates. This team was responsible for health and reproductive care tasks such as treatments, breeding, maternity, pregnancy diagnosis, pharmaceuticals, and lab testing. Adam is currently back in Idaho, working with Jersey calves. He was specifically brought in to resolve calf mortality issues and successfully turned around the failing calf program.
