This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate was born into a strong farming family and community in the central valley of California. He has over 14 years of experience in farming and grew up seeing the ins-and-outs of running a farm, including long days, nights, and weekends. After venturing into other Ag disciplines, he has come to the realization that farming is what truly brings him happiness. His knowledge, experience, and skills include team management, adaptable to new technology, open minded, safety compliance and regulations, irrigations systems, fertilizer application, pest management, weed management, tillage, and farm equipment maintenance and operations. He speaks and writes English and Spanish fluently. He is currently the Farm Manager for a local, family-owned pistachio farm. He runs the day-to-day tasks: irrigation and fertilizer operations and schedules, plans and executes water rechange, daily field checks, general equipment maintenance, supply and equipment, monitors weather and prepares contingency plans, forecasts and prepares crop assessments, coordinates harvest efforts with contractors, tracks harvest records for accurate data. He manages the farm labor team including scheduling, payroll, budgeting, safety training and conflict resolution. He works very well with others, is a problem solver, and has great relationships with the agriculture community. He strongly believes that leading by example is crucial to a successful manager and a trustworthy leader.
