This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate has come up through the feedyard ranks from Pen Rider to Assistant Manager. He was employed with the same 25,000 head yard for 21 years. He started as a Pen Rider riding pens, shipping fats, doctoring and processing cattle for 12 years and then was promoted to Cattle Manager. As Cattle Manager he was responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the cowboy crew, weighing incoming and outgoing cattle, working closely with the consulting veterinarian and tracking different tests on cattle. He then became an Assistant Manager as well as Cattle Manager which increased his oversight to all employees in every department and keeping supervisors informed on safety measures. His responsibilities also increased to watching the health of all cattle at six locations, procuring cattle, working with packers to market fat cattle and preparing all yards to ship. His skills include public speaking, negotiations, problem solving, computer skills and teamwork skills. His greatest skill is getting along with everyone and getting the most out of them.
