Candidate Description:
This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate received all his training over the last 20+ years from successful farm owners and successfully managed a farm/custom chopping outfit for the last 10+ years. He oversees 2 crews; a crew of 3 CLAAS choppers and about 12 truck drivers, having about 1200 acres of corn to chop and a crew of 2 CLAAS combines with a grain cart operator with about 800 acres of grain to thrash. All combines & choppers get a full service every night after use which includes being blown off from top to bottom of crop debris, bugs, dust, etc. as well as every bearing being greased on the machines. During both corn harvest and grain harvest, he’s constantly checking corn moistures to ensure the silage pit quality and checking grain moistures to ensure grain seed acceptance at the grainery. Following harvest, manure trucks spread either compost or raw manure on fields; he consults with the farmers to determine fertilizer density per acre. Once fertilizer is spread, he personally does majority of the ground work with a few different implements to protect and build top soil as well as to strengthen crop yield on rotation production. He personally does the spring crop planting and pivot managing. Shortly after planting they start the 1st cutting of hay. He manages all swathers/ bailers/ choppers, keeping them in excellent condition year-round by keeping up on regular maintenance and general repairs. He has a strong foundation in successful farm management and all the micro areas that go along with it. He knows how to set goals and achieve them, and has a proven track record of being able to develop & execute strategies.
