Assist Manager / Dairy Manager / Herd Manager
Candidate Description:
After Jose finished Agriculture and Livestock Technician School in Brazil, he decided to participate in an international Dairy Farm Training Program in the United States. In July of 2000 Jose applied for a job with a large dairy operation located in Florida. In this program Jose completed many different courses including Master Hoof Care, Dairy Production, Nutrition and Bio-Security, Genetics, and Artificial Insemination. In November of 2002 Jose moved to a Northern Plains State to work as Herdsman on a 1,700 cow dairy. He has since be promoted to the Herd Manager and his job responsibilities include: management of breeding and pregnancy diagnosis using ultrasound, identifying and treatment of sick cows, working with transition cows, making sure they are healthy, assist with calving difficulties, prevention and control mastitis and supervising employees. Jose helps in the training of the milkers and establishing proper milking procedures. He also oversees parlor functionality and helps with hoof trimming. He performs correction of displacement of abomasum by tagging or performs C-Section Surgery. Jose also helps with maintenance and repair and has experience with welding. Jose is a hard worker and takes care of the dairy like it is his own. He is also fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English.
