Cattle Manager
Candidate Description:
This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate has been working for a large cattle operation for the last 6 years. The company hired him to manage their 14,000 replacement heifer facility. After excelling with this position, he was promoted to their General Manager position, overseeing all young stock, including all calf ranches. He is currently in charge of 3 facilities which include a 7000 head beef cow ranch, which we raise to 400 weights and then market them, a 3500 dairy heifer calf ranch which consist of day old and up to 6 months of age and a 10,000-12,000 Dairy replacement feedlot. He oversees all daily operations with the help of 3 managers. He believes in letting his managers think on their own and not micro-manage them. They talk and communicate daily which is key to success. Calf and cow comfort are what he preaches daily to maintain such high expectations, stress free facilities are what it is all about. He has restructured and implemented many successful programs within the facilities and also employee culture. With the help of my managers and office staff we keep track of all feed costs daily and give a feed cost report weekly to the owners of the company. The CFO gives him a P&L report monthly that he goes over with his managers, nutritionist and owners of the company. Here they discuss any red flags that might be alarming to them as a business. He believes in his ability to turn a good business into a great business. He runs all his sites like he would if he owned them. He has a passion for the cattle industry and loves building great teams to lead.
