Candidate Description:
This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate is currently employed as a farm foreman overseeing 2300-acres of bearing pistachios. As foreman, his first assignment was to prepare 2700-acres for the planting of almonds and pistachios. He was responsible for observing many processes in preparing the fields for planting and since these fields are in for a long period of time it was important that the processes were performed correctly to ensure that the orchards last to the year projected. He had to be organized and there were many times he needed to troubleshoot problems as they were going through the different stages to prepare the fields for planting, but as a result of these efforts they were able to plant on schedule. His next assignment was to manage 1800-acres of nonbearing pistachios and 900-acres of bearing almonds. This assignment was different in the fact that the acres were spread out by almost 3 hour and by having trustworthy people in place he was able to manage the farms well. They harvested the almonds on time and without incident while also keeping the non-bearing pistachios on track to become bearing orchards through pruning, fertilizing, and irrigation. In his current assignment he manages 2300-acres of bearing pistachios. The orchard was in need of some maintenance when he arrived, but with his 7 direct reports they had the irrigation system running smoothly, harvest completed in a timely manner, he also interviewed and hired seasonal help to run 8 sets of pistachio harvesters without any accidents. They continue to stay on schedule to manage the orchard in such a way that they are maximizing the orchard’s production through pruning correctly, adding soil amendments and fertilizer. This candidate is looking for a position where he can utilize his experience in managing large acreages, as well as directing people and managing company assets in a Farm Manager position.
