Ranch Assistant

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting a large, well-established, multi-generational ranch operation in searching for a dependable Ranch Assistant to join a highly respected team on one of the premier ranches in the Northern Plains. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their work, takes pride in maintaining a first-class ranch, and wants to become part of a stable operation with long-term employees and ownership committed to continual improvement. This is a hands-on position where no two days are exactly alike. The successful candidate will assist with cattle operations, hay production, equipment operation, ranch maintenance, and infrastructure projects while working alongside an experienced crew that values teamwork, reliability, and a strong work ethic.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist with all phases of a progressive cow/calf operation
• Gather, sort, process, doctor, and ship cattle
• Monitor herd health and recognize animal health concerns
• Feed livestock during winter months
• Assist with hay production, hauling, and feeding
• Build and repair fence
• Help maintain livestock water systems, pipelines, tanks, and ranch facilities
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs on ranch equipment
• Operate tractors, loaders, skid steers, ATVs, and other ranch equipment in a safe and careful manner
• Fill in wherever needed to support the ranch team

Desired Qualifications

• Cow/calf experience with good animal health knowledge
• Experience operating and maintaining newer John Deere equipment
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and repairs
• Good, gentle equipment operator who takes pride in caring for machinery
• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take direction
• Dependable, trustworthy, and self-motivated
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• CDL is beneficial but not required
• Horseback experience is helpful but not required
