Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of grain merchandising, including grain purchasing, sales, hedging, inventory, and logistics
• Understanding of commodity markets, pricing structures, and market risk management
• Experience coordinating grain movement, freight arbitrage, and bin management
• Ability to develop and implement grain procurement strategies and producer-focused marketing programs
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with producers, buyers, and internal staff
• Proven ability to maintain consistent outreach to current and prospective customers

Job Description

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing an established Grain Company seeking a Grain Merchandiser to be responsible for the overall merchandising of grain purchased and sold by the company. Merchandising of grain includes the purchase of grain, the sale of grain, the shipment of grain, coordination and management of grain movement, freight arbitrage, commodity conditioning, bin management and the management of grain margins and market risk within the policy and guidelines set by the Board and/or the General Manager. In furtherance of these duties, the Merchandiser has the following duties and responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of grain merchandising, including grain purchasing, sales, shipment coordination, and grain movement
• Monitor daily market conditions and competitor strategies to inform procurement and merchandising decisions
• Develop and implement grain procurement strategies and producer marketing programs
• Provide oversight and support to Grain Marketing Specialists and others involved in grain purchasing
• Execute and manage all necessary hedging activity for company grain transactions
• Oversee grain inventory placement, condition, and overall bin management
• Build and maintain strong relationships with grain sales customers and develop new market opportunities
• Collaborate with the Grain Manager and General Manager to establish margins, contracts, and marketing strategies
• Maintain regular communication with producers, customers, and internal staff via phone, email, and in-person visits
• Keep detailed contact and transactional records at an approved DMG office location
• Meet or exceed established production goals and performance quotas
• Utilize company-issued technology, including computer, timekeeping system, and mobile phone
• Maintain company-provided vehicles and equipment in a clean, safe, and professional condition
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager
