Job Description – Feedyard / Ranch Assistant
A progressive cattle operation in Colorado is seeking a full-time Feedyard / Ranch Assistant. This role is ideal for a motivated individual who enjoys variety in their work, takes pride in quality results, and is capable of working independently as well as with a team.
Responsibilities
- Care for cattle, including pen riding, checking health, and doctoring as needed
- Assist with cow/calf herd and backgrounding of yearlings
- Support feedyard operations and daily feeding routines
- Operate and maintain ranch equipment such as tractors, feed trucks, mixers, haying equipment, and related machinery
- Assist with seasonal projects, including silage, fencing, and pen building
- Perform general ranch maintenance and upkeep
- CDL preferred (or ability/willingness to obtain) for hauling feed, cattle, or crops
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain
- Cattle/ranching experience strongly preferred, though training is possible for the right motivated candidate
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate/maintain equipment are a plus
- Must be dependable, self-starting, and willing to take ownership of tasks in both supervised and unsupervised settings
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting a progressive cattle operation in Colorado in the search for a Feedyard / Ranch Assistant. This position will be involved in a wide range of cattle and feedyard responsibilities, including feeding, riding or walking pens to check cattle health, spotting and pulling sick cattle, doctoring, sorting, vaccinating, and general yard maintenance. Additional responsibilities may include fencing, silage work (chopping and packing), hay production, and other ranch-related projects as needed. While the feedyard is the primary focus, the ideal candidate will be dependable, self-motivated, and willing to assist across all areas of the operation. A background of 3-5+ years in cattle feeding, cow/calf, or ranch work is preferred, though the employer is open to training a motivated individual with a strong work ethic and mechanical aptitude.
