Job Title: Feedyard Manager/Assistant General Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum 5 years recent experience managing medium to large scale feedyards
- A good understanding of OSHA guidelines is preferred as well as an understanding of a cattle accounting system - Performance Livestock Analytics
- MS Office experience and proficiency with Excel and Access
- Excellent communication and leadership skills are required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, etc.
- Assist with closeouts and customer communications
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
- Strong animal health background and/or a combination of technical training and work experience
- Prefer proven experience in a supervisory position, with drive to excel, who have the "entrepreneurial spirit"
- High level of integrity and work ethic
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and direct yard maintenance and general upkeep to maintain and improve the feedyard functionality
- Analyze and identify opportunities to improve feeding performance and profitability at receiving, processing, animal health, and other areas as identified

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is hand-on management position. Manages functions and production
related to the operation of the feedyard facility. Responsible for oversight of receiving and shipping of cattle, processing, feeding programs, feed mill operation, feed ingredient inventory, animal health and nutrition, equipment needs, maintenance, people resources, waste management, and all other production operations.

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Feedyard Manager for this North Dakota feedyard operation. Responsibilities include: Manage daily operations of the feedyard facility. Assure all activities are within company guidelines and applicable laws/regulations. Manage feedyard production and it's people to achieve maximum efficiency of the feedyard. Manage costs. Strive for efficiency. Evaluate equipment and repairs for alternatives. Keep rolling stock and equipment in good operational condition. Stay abreast of all regulations and pending issues to keep the yard in effective operating order. Assure animal health practices and feed nutrition meet optimum growing conditions. Manage shrink and death loss. Work closely with outside consulting veterinarians and nutritionist to address deficiencies and improve cattle feeding results. Maintain effective environmental practices to prevent contamination of any soil and keep the relationship with neighbors in good standing. Keep facility in neat appearance. Use proactive communication. Continue professional growth through participation of industry events and training.

Additional Opportunity – Crop Production Leadership
While the primary focus of this position is the feedyard, the company also manages significant row-crop acreage that supports feedyard needs and overall production efficiency.
If the right candidate has experience or interest in crop production, there is an excellent opportunity to assist in planning and overseeing planting, growing, and harvest operations.

This crossover role would include:
- Providing leadership support to the farm team during key planting and harvest seasons
- Coordinating feedyard and field operations to optimize feed supply, silage management, and harvest timing
- Offering input on agronomic planning, equipment scheduling, and crop performance tracking

This is not a requirement of the Feedyard Manager position, but it would be a valuable plus for a candidate interested in a more diversified management role and long-term career growth within a vertically integrated ag operation.
