Opportunity Overview

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting a progressive 7,000-head commercial cattle feeding operation in Nebraska in searching for an experienced Feed Truck Operator. This employer is committed to maintaining a professional, respectful work environment and is seeking a dependable individual who takes pride in producing quality feed and contributing to the daily success of the feedlot. Feed delivery is one of the most important daily functions of a commercial feedlot, and the successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining cattle performance by accurately delivering feed rations while operating equipment safely and efficiently.

Position Responsibilities

  • Operate a feed truck to accurately deliver daily feed rations according to established feeding schedules.
  • Deliver the correct ration and feed quantities to each pen while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
  • Operate computerized feed management and electronic scale systems to ensure accurate feed delivery.
  • Load feed ingredients using loaders and other heavy equipment.
  • Ensure feed ingredients are properly loaded and mixed before delivery.
  • Monitor feed bunks and report feeding irregularities or cattle performance concerns.
  • Perform routine pre-trip inspections and basic maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Safely operate equipment throughout the feedlot while working around cattle, horseback riders, and other heavy equipment.
  • Report broken fences, leaking water systems, equipment issues, or other maintenance concerns.
  • Assist with general feedlot duties and additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of commercial feedlot experience required.
  • Previous feed truck operation experience preferred.
  • Experience operating loaders, skid steers, dump trucks, and similar heavy equipment.
  • Experience with computerized feed management and electronic scale systems preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment inspections and maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CDL preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately follow feed ration specifications.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment in a busy commercial feedlot environment.
  • Professional attitude with respect for coworkers.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and dependable attendance.

Hours

Typical work schedule averages 50–55 hours per week.

Compensation

$60,000–$75,000+ DOE, based on a typical 50–55 hour work week.

Employees interested in taking on additional responsibilities may have opportunities to earn additional compensation.
