QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong willingness to work with livestock, especially hogs and cattle.
- Ability to perform daily hog chores, including feeding, loading, vaccinating, and general barn care.
- Equipment operation experience (tractors, loaders, basic farm machinery).
- Mechanical aptitude for routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities.
- Truck driving experience helpful; must pass written Class A CDL test before hiring and driving test within 60 days of start date.
- Ability to haul feed ingredients and/or livestock within 150-mile radius using farm plates.
- Dependable and able to work in a team environment.
- Versatile skill set - willing to work across livestock, maintenance, and field operations.
- Good communication skills and strong work ethic.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a good Livestock/Equipment Operator & Maintenance Person for a diversified hog, cattle, and row-crop operation located in Illinois. This is primarily a livestock-focused role with responsibilities split between hog care, cattle work, equipment operation, and farm maintenance. The operation includes a wean-to-finish hog system with approximately 11,000 head on hand, housed in 9 barns, along with cattle and 2,200 acres of crop ground that supports the livestock enterprise.
The employer needs a hands-on, dependable individual who can:
- Assist with daily hog chores (approx. 6 hours/day across all barns when needed).
- Help with cattle as part of the regular rotation.
- Make and deliver feed for hogs and cattle using on-farm feed systems.
- Operate late-model equipment with GPS during planting, tillage, and harvest seasons.
- Perform general repair and maintenance on barns, equipment, and facilities.
- Occasionally operate a semi to pick up feed ingredients or haul livestock (CDL helpful but not required).
- Participate in weekend and day-off rotations (one day off per week, every other weekend off).
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys livestock, is flexible, and wants to be part of a steady, long-term team.
