Job Title: Farmer's Right-Hand Man
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a qualified Farm Right-Hand Man for this progressive Indiana crop-production operation. The employer is seeking a dependable, experienced, and mechanically inclined individual who can become a trusted member of a well-established family farming operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, modern equipment, hands-on crop production, and taking ownership of daily responsibilities. The operation produces approximately 4,500 acres of corn, soybeans, and specialty corn. A portion of the acreage is irrigated with center-pivot irrigation. The successful candidate will assist throughout the entire farming season, including tillage, planting, spraying, irrigation, harvest, grain handling, hauling, equipment maintenance, and winter shop work. This is not a position for someone interested in performing only one task. The employer needs a versatile individual who is willing and able to help wherever needed and who takes pride in keeping equipment properly maintained and ready for the field.

Responsibilities
- Operate modern tractors and tillage equipment
- Assist with planting and crop-production activities
- Operate combines and harvest equipment
- Haul grain and assist with grain handling
- Operate or learn to operate a self-propelled sprayer
- Monitor and maintain center-pivot irrigation systems
- Perform routine maintenance and general mechanical repairs
- Replace bearings, chains, belts, hoses, and other wear parts
- Inspect and prepare equipment before each season
- Maintain farm trucks, equipment, shop areas, and facilities
- Assist the owner and farm team wherever seasonal priorities require
- Work independently and complete assigned responsibilities without constant supervision
Equipment
The operation uses modern John Deere and Case IH equipment, including:
- John Deere tractors and planters
- Case IH combines
- Case IH Quadtrac
- Large corn and draper heads
- Self-propelled sprayer
- Grain trucks
- Center-pivot irrigation systems
- Precision-agriculture technology
Qualifications
- Previous row-crop farming experience
- Experience with corn and soybean production preferred
- Ability to safely operate large modern farm equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience performing routine maintenance and general repairs
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems
- Harvest and grain-handling experience
- Valid driver’s license
- CDL preferred but not required
- Pesticide applicator license preferred but not required
- Sprayer experience beneficial
- Center-pivot irrigation experience beneficial
- Stable work history
- Dependable attendance
- Ability to work longer seasonal hours
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
