QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-6 years of experience in orchard, permanent crop related field, or tree farming experience preferred, though not required
- A passion for Agriculture and management experience in production agriculture is a must
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to effectively communicate with both verbal & written skills
- Ability to make decisions in stressful environments
- Proficient computer skills - Microsoft Office software, email, internet, spreadsheets
- Good diagnostic and decision-making skills in addition to excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Experience leading production and administrative crew

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Farm Manager for this Arizona Pistachio operation. The Pistachio orchard operator will be responsible for managing and executing day-to-day tasks in a 6-7-year-old pistachio orchard. These tasks include: overseeing crews, farm employees, irrigation, tractor operator, daily reports, ATV operator, repairs and maintenance, general orchard care.
Experience required. Willing to invest time in training the right candidate but we are looking for someone with extensive orchard experience. This is a young, dynamic company growing their acreage and team in 2021 and beyond. Currently, we have roughly 1800 acres of planted pistachio trees and 360 acres of alfalfa. This opportunity is great for any smart and ambitious individual that can apply the knowledge they’ve learned into the field.
As younger growers, they are aiming to build a farming company for the long-haul that will emulate the hard work, high character, and quality operations of past generations of successful growers – but also incorporate modern farming practices, technology, and business strategy.
As the Farm Manager your role will evolve but initially the key responsibilities of this role will be overseeing 7-8 employees to successfully complete the following:
Weed Cultivation: (~20% of time)
Irrigation and fertility (~40% of time)
- Activating and deactivating the irrigation system
- Checking for leaks in the drip hose
- Executing an irrigation schedule along with fertilizer application
- Monitoring soil moisture
Tractor & ATV operator (~40% of time)
- Tractor operations include mowing, tree spraying, and ground preparations.
- ATV operations include monitoring the irrigation system, weed spraying, and rodent baiting.
General Orchard Care (~20% of time)
- Reviewing overall tree health and identifying areas of concern
- Rodent baiting
- Tree tying
- Insect monitoring
