Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge of reproduction, including AI and synchronization programs (AI proficiency required).
- Practical experience in herd health, animal handling, and general livestock husbandry.
- Ability to interpret and utilize data from herd management software (experience with dairy record-keeping systems preferred).
- Willingness to learn new systems, technologies, and procedures.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a small team.
- Effective communication and record-keeping skills.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not necessary.
Job Description:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for an experienced Breeding / Herd Health Manager for a progressive dairy operation. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of heifer management, including feeding and nutrition, herd health, and reproduction programs such as synchronization and artificial insemination. Additional responsibilities include overseeing daily livestock care, assisting with facility maintenance and upgrades, and contributing to efficient herd operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily care and health of replacement heifers.
- Oversee and execute herd reproduction programs, including artificial insemination (AI), synchronization, and pregnancy checks.
- Monitor reproductive performance and herd health metrics using herd management and tracking systems.
- Work closely with the management team to ensure proper vaccination, nutrition, and breeding schedules.
- Maintain accurate health and breeding records.
- Assist with calving, newborn care, and pre-fresh management.
- Support seasonal harvest operations as needed.
- Collaborate with other employees and part-time staff to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.
- Train and mentor support staff in animal handling and reproductive practices as appropriate.
Work Environment
- Mid-sized, expanding heifer operation handling dairy genetics.
- Collaborative team of full-time and part-time employees.
- Reports directly to the operations owner/manager.
