JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching
for an experience Ag Controller for this progressive Wisconsin Ag Producer. Due to significant business growth and expansion across company agricultural operations, they have created this new Controller position to provide dedicated financial leadership for their three agricultural entities. As Controller, person will have full P&L responsibility for 3 separate divisions within the company, reporting directly to the CEO/Owner. This role is being established as our current CFO transitions to focus on other arms of their organization. You will work with the existing team of two bookkeeping staff: an office manager who primarily handles the Farm and Grain operations, and a part-time support person who assists with Ranch bookkeeping and overflow tasks. Person will need to perform some hands-on bookkeeping work to fill current gaps while simultaneously designing and implementing improved systems and workflows. This newly created role offers direct access to ownership, significant influence over financial and operational strategy, and the opportunity to build modern, best-in-class financial systems that integrate our agricultural businesses while respecting their unique operational characteristics.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all financial operations for our three distinct agricultural entities, including budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and entity consolidations.
- Oversee general ledger accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and tax coordination across all three agricultural businesses with their unique accounting requirements.
- Ensure robust internal controls and financial governance frameworks, particularly for commodity hedging activities and seasonal inventory valuation across crop, livestock, and grain trading operations.
- Successfully navigate agricultural lending requirements and financial reporting obligations specific to each business segment.

Strategic Partnership
- Collaborate with ownership and operational leaders across all three entities to support strategic planning, capital allocation, and risk management decisions.
- Provide financial analysis and insight to drive operational improvements, profitability, and longterm sustainability for each business segment.
- Develop dynamic cash-flow models to optimize liquidity across different seasonal cycles (planting/harvest, cattle production, grain trading) and commodity market fluctuations.
- Support cross-entity decision-making related to land acquisition, livestock investments, grain storage infrastructure, and vertical integration opportunities between their three businesses.

Systems & Team Leadership
- Work hands-on with our existing bookkeeping team (office manager and part-time assistant) while potentially adding one more assistant from the ranch operation.
- Perform direct bookkeeping functions as needed, particularly for the Ranch operations where current coverage is limited.
- Design and implement improved accounting workflows, especially for the Ranch, to create a sustainable system that efficiently supports all three agricultural entities.
- Modernize financial systems within first 12-18 months, including potential implementation of agriculture-specific ERP solutions to replace our current QuickBooks Enterprise environment.
- Manage relationships with external CPAs, auditors, agricultural lenders, and regulatory entities across all three business segments.
- Develop streamlined reporting tools that connect operational data (field production, livestock performance, grain inventory) with financial outcomes.
