This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate has 10 years of experience in cattle production. He is currently the Head Cowboy at an operation where he is responsible for 3,000 head of stocker cattle and 100 head of cow/calf pairs. He supervises and delegates tasks to 3 full-time and 1 part-time employee. His daily tasks include monitoring the herd for illness, injury and/or weight gain in the feedlot and pasture. He is responsible for doctoring sick and injured cattle and administering vaccines. He can check cattle and doctor using a truck, ATV and on horseback. He is also responsible for sorting, processing (tag, castrate, vaccinate, worm, brand, etc.) and hauling cattle. He runs the feed truck and understands feed rations. He assists on farming duties such as drilling and harvesting soybeans, milo, wheat and feed.
